Proposed plan for research
Department has identified three major areas for research and development, namely, Power Electronics Drives, Multilevel Inverters, and Power Electronics Converters.
Main research on Multilevel Inverters include 7 level multilevel topology, fault detection of 5 level multilevel topology and generalisation of multilevel inverter topology based on Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation.
Research on power electronics drives for BLDC machine, induction machine, and Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine are the other main research branches. These on-going researches opens up new vistas for fault detection in induction motor drives, hysteresis control of the same, direct torque control and commutation torque control of BLDC motors, and indirect matrix converter control of PMSM.
Power electronics converters like multi input DC to DC converters is also a major research topic amongst the many.
