Department of Physics

The Department of Physics in NITC is emerging as a major centre for teaching and research in applied physics and technology, with a dynamic team of faculty members, technical staff and research scholars. In addition to the Bachelors and Masters programmes (B.Tech. Engineering Physics and M.Sc. Physics), the department has an active and vibrant research programmes in experimental, theoretical and computational physics, supported by several externally funded projects.

To be a centre of international repute for higher learning and research in fundamental and applied physics.

Develop personnel with sound knowledge in all aspects of fundamental physics, applied physics and technology with a strong potential for research, innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship for the betterment of humankind.

• Prof. M. K. Ravi Varma won the prestigious Dr. S. Vasudev Award, 2022, awarded by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE) for the best project completed under Science Research Scheme (SRS).

• The Department of Physics received FIST 2019 (Fund for Improvement of S&T infrastructure) programme
• Dr. Subramanyan Namboodiri Varanakkottu. won the KSCSTE Young Scientist Award, 2019-2020.
• Mr. H Jagdish Kumar Panda, an Engineering Physics graduate student, has founded a start-up firm, QUILTECH Pvt. Ltd.
