"M.TECH COLLOQUIUM” The Department of Electrical engineering at NIT Calicut has organized a National Level "M.Tech Colloquium" during 24th-26th May 2017, to provide a platform for final year M.Tech Scholars from various Engineering Colleges across the nation, to expose their project ideas in front of a panel of experts from Industry(ABB, Bosch etc) , Academia(IITs/NITs) to gain adaptivity to Industry focused research. The event management of the programme is done by IEEE PES Student Chapter NIT Calicut.

TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP ON TEST AND MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS” organized by Industrial Power Group In Association with IEEE PES student chapter and FLUKE TECHNOLOGIES PVT. LTD on 21 st -22nd April 2017.

"RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM” Department of Electrical Engineering has organized a Research Colloquium at NIT Calicut under the aegis of TEQIP on 24th to 25th of March 2017. The sole purpose of the event is to provide a platform for the young research scholars of the department to expose their research ideas/titles in front of an experienced audience and share their expectations to pursue the research ideas into a project. The research community was divided into five major streams of Electrical engineering and esteemed professors who are experts in their field of research had been invited for keynote lectures as well as resource persons for each of the groups.

FAREWELL GIVEN TO Dr. M V VAIDYAN (PROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING) on 31st JANUARY 2017
Dr M V Vaidyan has joined REC Calicut as Lecturer in Electrical Engineering Department in the year 1976. He has been associated with the department for the past 40 years in various academic, research and development activities.

Expert technical talk delivered by Kalki Tech Bangalore on “Seamless Integration across sub-systems in Power / Industrial Automation” was organized by Electrical Engineering Association on 11th Jan 2017.

National workshop on MATLAB and its Applications to be held on 7th - 9 th March, 2017, organized by IEEE PES NITC Chapter in association with Industrial Power Group.

Expert talk on Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Grid will be organized by Electrical Engineering Association on 14th March 2017.

Expert talk on Electric vehicles and their control strategies by Bosh India to be held on 22nd March 2017, organized by IEEE PES NITC Chapter in association with Industrial Power Group.

Two-day National seminar on System Reliability and Thermography to be held on 7 th -8 th April 2017, organized by IEEE PES NITC Chapter in association withIndustrial Power Group.

1. Workshop on Advanced Latex held on 14th March 2015, organized by Industrial Power Group in association with IEEE PES NITC Chapter.
2. National workshop on "ELECTRIC POWER QUALITY”, March 11-12, 2016 organized by Industrial Power Group Department of Electrical Engineering in association with IEEE Power and Energy Society, NITC Chapter.
3. IEEE PES chapter NITC in association with IEEE Kerala chapter has organized a cluster meeting with KSEB Ltd on 12thMarch, 2016.
4. Workshop on Advanced Latex held on 20th April, 2016, organized by Industrial Power Group in association with IEEE PES NITC Chapter.
5. National workshop on Xilinx Vivado based FPGA design and Zynq architecture held on 3rd -4 th September, 2016, organized by Industrial Power Group in association with IEEE PES NITC Chapter.
6. An Invited talk by Prof. Thukaram on Congestion management in deregulated power systems using concepts ofrelative electrical distance and virtual power flow was held on 21st Sept 2016 organized by Electrical Engineering Association.
7. An expert talk on “Distributed Control System with Advanced Communication Protocol in Industrial Process Automation” was delivered by Yokogawa India on 3rd November 2016, organized by Electrical Engineering association with Industrial Power Group EED.
