"M.TECH COLLOQUIUM” The Department of Electrical engineering at NIT Calicut has organized a National Level "M.Tech Colloquium" during 24th-26th May 2017, to provide a platform for final year M.Tech Scholars from various Engineering Colleges across the nation, to expose their project ideas in front of a panel of experts from Industry(ABB, Bosch etc) , Academia(IITs/NITs) to gain adaptivity to Industry focused research. The event management of the programme is done by IEEE PES Student Chapter NIT Calicut.

"RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM” Department of Electrical Engineering has organized a Research Colloquium at NIT Calicut under the aegis of TEQIP on 24th to 25th of March 2017. The sole purpose of the event is to provide a platform for the young research scholars of the department to expose their research ideas/titles in front of an experienced audience and share their expectations to pursue the research ideas into a project. The research community was divided into five major streams of Electrical engineering and esteemed professors who are experts in their field of research had been invited for keynote lectures as well as resource persons for each of the groups.

Dr M V Vaidyan has joined REC Calicut as Lecturer in Electrical Engineering Department in the year 1976. He has been associated with the department for the past 40 years in various academic, research and development activities. :

2015

 

A 2 day workshop on NI LabVIEW was conducted on 6th and 7th NOV 2015 at NITC by Mr.Rajasekheran, Innovative Invaders Technologies( authorised academic reseller) National Instruments. The workshop mainly covered NI LabVIEW, NI multisim cosimulation for Power Electronics applications. Demonstration of NI myRIO,cRIO were also done.

A 3 day advanced Workshop on "FPGA control of motor drives" was demonstrated by ENTUPLE technologies on 4th,5th and 6th November 2015. The workshop was based on the familiarization of the hardware interfacing modules used in real time FPGA control of motor drives. The control algorithm was demonstrated with FPGA control board and it was successfully implemented in the speed control of SRM, Vector controlled induction motor drive.

ABB IRB1200 6DOF ROBOT:- the installation of the robot was carried out by Edutech on 30th October 2015 . Theoretical and handson training secssion was given. The controll of robot, from Robotstudio virtual flexpentent and real time flexpentent were demonstrated.

Workshop on "FPGA control of motor drives" was demonstrated by ENTUPLE technologies on 18th September 2015. The workshop was based on the familiarization of the hardware interfacing modules used in real time FPGA control of motor drives. The control algorithm was demonstrated with FPGA control board and it was successfully implemented in the speed control of BLDC Motor.

dSPACE workshop was held on 22nd August 2015 which dealt with "Real time mechatronic control of motors for automotive" applications organized by Industrial Power group in association with DynaFusion Technologies. It was mainly focused in the demonstration of hardware devices involved in real time applications of dSPACE. Then real time PWM pulses were generated with the help of controller board with the help of dSPACE.

A technical seminar on "Thermography for Research Applications" held on 20th August 2015,organized by Industrial Power Group.The program was aimed to develop overall understanding in using the latest state-of-the-art Thermography Equipment, from M/s FLIR Systems.
